Rotary valve

Solution for dosing and compartmentalizing bulk materials

Lessine’s rotary valves are an essential solution for sealing, compartmentalizing, and precise dosing in industrial process lines.

Operating principle

Rotary valves, also known as rotary airlocks or rotary feeders, consist of a rotor equipped with several compartments (or pockets) rotating inside a cylindrical housing. The product fed into the valve from above is transported by the rotation of the pockets towards the outlet in a controlled manner (dosing). An effective seal, achieved by the narrow clearance between the stator and the rotor, ensures compartmentalization between the upstream and downstream processes.

For sticky products, a scraper rotating with the rotor cleans each pocket, preventing clogging and ensuring a clean transfer of the product.

Applications

Rotary valves are particularly suited for distributing bulk products in the following industries :

  • Circular economy and recovery
  • Minerals and ores
  • Fertilizers, chemicals, fine chemicals
  • Food and pharmaceuticals
  • Metals and precious metals

Avantages

  • Various configurations : open/closed rotor, adjustable blades, wear-resistant, armored, etc.
  • Heavy industrial use
  • Volumetric and/or mass dosing
  • Automatic cleaning of pockets by scrapers
  • ATEX, flame barrier
  • Quick disassembly, easy cleaning
  • Available in food, pharma, heavy industry versions
